I figured we could use a place to post scam alerts.

Starting with, for example, that the FCA issued a warning

Why am I not surprised they also have a dodgy address in an offshore zone...

The FCA warns that a company called Prest & Grove is likely running a scam. They have a London address listed on their website, as well as a registration number that doesn't turn up neither in the Financial Services Register, nor in the UK Companies House registry. The company is targeting British clients and claims it's providing financial services while their clients' money are held in a FCA/SRA registered custodian account.

The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) published a warning that the binary options broker Stock Binary is misleading the public and is probably a scam. According to the announcement, in the contact section of its website stock-binary.com, the broker is falsely providing the name and address of the company Binary Investments (Europe) Ltd. in Malta.

The latter is a binary options broker with a license and regulation for a Category 3 investment services provider in Malta and for gaming products. The former, however, is not regulated and is giving the false impression it is properly licensed and regulated.

I've been keeping my eyes open about scam alerts ever since I got scammed a few years ago. It was a really unpleasant experience.
And yes, that's a good idea, I will try to get around to doing that soon.

Thanks Eliza, can you share your experience of being scammed?

If you're open to it, I'd really like to hear about what happened so we can better identify scams in the future.

Appreciate the warnings, keep it up

I was a total newbie and didn't know what I was doing at all. I saw an ad about a local broker offering a bonus if I opened an account at their company, which I did. I never actually invested my own money, but I did make a profit off my bonus. When I tried to withdraw my profit the broker ignored me. I never saw anything from that profit. I am thankful that I didn't lose any of my own money, but considering that I was a newbie, I was eager and enthusiastic about everything Forex-related the whole experience was really disappointing and almost made me give up on the idea. Later the broker went under when other people complained to the authorities.

The moral of my story is this: don't work with unregulated companies and always, always research the ones you want to work with.
